The British 10k takes place on 11th July 2010 and once again the guys & girls at Hoyer will be raising funds for Clowns in the Sky. Team announcement soon so watch this space.

Richard and Pete ran the London Marathon in April for Clowns and managed to bring into the pot a combined total of £1,476.00 well done guys.

I know they found raising sponsorship this year harder than usual, I guess we are all feeling the "credit crunch" so a special thank you goes to all of you who sponsor them.

This was Pete's first marathon (hopefully not his last), he may look like a big cuddly bear but he must have some steel inside to complete the course. The day was long & very wet and I know they were both exhausted at the end.

Richard's need for a rest at Green Park tube station resulted in him being issued with a "stop & Search" ticket, yes that really did happen.

Let wish them well for next year and hope their training which will begin in October with London's first ever half marathon goes well.

Well Lorraine & her wonderful team have done it again; by hook or by crook they have raised £1,710.50 through their sponsored 10 mile walk, and Lorraine whose back injury meant that she swapped her walk for a sponsored fast, to support the work we do at Clowns.

A special mention goes to little April Rhodes age 18, whose sponsorship effort was outstanding.

These ladies really do show that with individual desire & commitment and a good pair of walking shoes, a lot of determination and hungry bellies, you can make a difference.

They have chosen to support Clowns in the Sky, and we can only thank them on behalf of all the children who will directly benefit from the money they have donated.

Been there seen it, done it and didn't have to hop once.

Newcastle was fun, weather was great, accommodation left a lot to be desired, and true to form, I beat Lynn to the finish line! I do worry for the public transport of Newcastle.

My time was 2 hours and 7 mins - beat that anyone out there if you can and I will sponsor you!!! (for Clowns of course)

My total sponsorship raised to date is £1,590.00 which really will make a lot of smiles happen.

Thank you to everyone who put their hands in their pockets, wallets, purses, piggy banks, and possibly places we dont want to know about.

More than a letter from the postman!

One of our long term supporters Mick Mummery teamed up with Paul Cox and together with the "Communication Workers Union", London South West Branch, Nine Elms Lane, SW8 5BB. They put on a fantastic fundraising evening. It was a jammed packed evening for all the family and the generousity of all who attended meant that a cheque for £ 1,862.26 was delivered to Clowns in the Sky. What a wonderful achievement, from the efforts and organisation of two wonderful guys, supported by their local Union.

We thank you all and hope that you continue to follow the work we do and know that you have all played your part, in bringing a smile to a childs face.

Can one person make a difference?

Lorraine Rhodes decided she would try, so she gave up some of her leisure time and went on a sponsored 20 mile walk for Clowns in the Sky. Lorraine is no different to you or me, she has a very busy life and could easily find a reason not to do something. She was touched by the work we do at Clowns and decided that she could help us to make a difference.

Her sponsored 20 mile walk raised over £250.00 and we would like to say Thank you very much Lorraine. The money she raised could fill two of our Activity Trolleys which provide stimulation and enjoyment to children in Hospital. It could pay for two visits from our "Clown style" entertainers, who go into the Hospitals and bring laughter and relief both to the childrren and their parents, with their magic style shows. However we use this sponsorship money, the one thing that is guaranteed is that It will make a difference.

So, for anyone reading this and thinking maybe your efforts wouldn't really make that much difference, why not follow in Lorraine's footsteps?

The Dutch House pub on Sidcup Road brought some Christmas cheer by raising more than £2,500 for Clowns in the Sky in an auction before Christmas.

The pub made Clowns in the Sky its nominated charity for 2005. Over the year the regulars at the pub have given unstintingly through raffles, collection boxes and other activities.

We would like to say a very big thank you to Bob and Sara Podmore who manage the pub for all that they have done over the year and the support they have given us.

Anyone who is mad about football would be over the moon at the opportunity to kick a ball around with David Beckham.

Clowns in the Sky made this possible for Shannon. She attended the official opening of the event on the on 28th November 2005.

Despite not being very well, Shannon managed to have a managed to have a fantastic day picking up some tips from the maestro with other children who attended the opening. She also accompanied David Beckham on her own to the press conference!

The photo of her with David was taken at the end of the day when she was tired but very happy. Her Mum said that this was the longest she had spent out of her wheelchair!

Thanks to the efforts of 8 ladies who have been organising an annual fund raising event since 1988 for different charities, Clowns in the Sky has received almost £2,000 due to the generosity of the people who attended a dinner dance on 26th November 2005.

This was the first fund raising dinner dance we have had and everyone had a lively time with lots of dancing to the band. There was a well subscribed raffle and auction that drew lots of bidding. Most of the prizes were kindly donated by regular goers to Action 88 events who were all very keen to learn about what Clowns in the Sky is working to achieve.

Hopefully this will be the first of many dinner dances we will hold but we must thank the Action 88 ladies for their efforts in making this first event such a success.
