Hi, well I did it, I now have the medal and I'm proud to wear it.
By Richard (Jennifer's father)

The day was wet, but my spirits were high. I had my loyal support crew with me on the day, and this time unlike Edinbugh! they did manage to follow me round the course and find me at the finish line.

I may have been one of 32,983 but I felt very special, I knew why I was running and I was pleased to have the opportunity to be part of it.

I was doing really well and having my pal Paul with me really did make all the difference. Suddenly at 22 miles my left knee exploded and the pain was so great I was unsure if I could go on. I told Paul to go ahead and although he objected I persisted and he went on to get his medal. I was determined to get mine too, so although I was a bit behind him with the time, I still collected it and I can say it was one of the best feelings I've had. I didn't think my heart could feel joy again after Jennifer died, but the joy came from her. I was running for my little girl and she held my hand all the way round.

So after a few days of recovering I am slowly beginning my training ready for the Great North Run in October.
